What is your hearts cry for 2019?
We are one day away from a New Year. So much anticipation and hope is always stirred up this time of year. We are ready to put the old year behind us and move forward into the new. The New Year feels fresh and open, like anything is possible. It's no wonder that by mid January we are left feeling disappointed and frustrated as our expectations might not be playing out as we had hoped. We put so much pressure on that day, that moment in time, that reset we are trying to establish. The reality is, we all know life happens, and it can get messy and difficult. And yet, we still look to that day to start fresh! Here's a statement I pray we can all flood our hearts with today.......
Don't look to a day for your life to change, but look to the Divine Nature of God to change you. And in turn, your life will be forever changed.
IN THE BEGINNING GOD!
In every beginning, let it be about HIM! The Lord is the only One that can rightfully handle all our new beginnings. It's His very nature that sustains us. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. If we look to anything or anyone, we will always experience disappointment. However, as we cry out to the Lord, and lean on Him, He will make ALL things new. Not just in a new day or year, but every single day of our lives. He goes before us and behind us.
The world will tell you to make it all about you this New Year! Make your life all about your dreams and desires. But in the Kingdom of God, it is the complete opposite of what the world says.
Matthew 10:39
Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for My sake will find it.
That's a tough scripture to read and follow, unless you genuinely know and understand the nature of your Heavenly Father. And the only way we can even begin to try and comprehend His nature, is to spend time with Him, and in His Word. That needs to be our hearts cry, today and everyday, TO KNOW HIM MORE!
Let's pray.....
Dear Heavenly Father,
As we get ready to embark on a New Year we pray that our hearts would cry out to know you more. Put a hunger deep inside us to spend time with You and in your Word. Not so we can see who we are, but who YOU ARE, Your Divine Nature. Help us to put our lives in your hands in humble surrender. And as we do, we will come to understand that we actually find our lives instead of lose them. You are Creator God, and You make all things new! You promise to complete the work You have started. May we always keep our gaze on You to fulfill our hearts desire. Lord, please hear our hearts cry on this day as we want to bring honor and glory to You, and You alone!
In Jesus Name We Pray,
AMEN
Numbers 6:24-26
The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
